About the Centre

The mission of the Centre for Athletics – Atlantic is to provide support and guidance to Atlantic high performance athletes and their coaches, and to help develop greater numbers of high performance athletes in the Atlantic region.

The Centre for Athletics – Atlantic / Centre pour l’Athlétisme – Atlantique represents a partnership amongst several organisations committed to the development of the sport in this region. This partnership includes the Canadian Sport Centre - Atlantic, the Université de MonctonAthletics Canada and the four Atlantic branches – Athletics New Brunswick, Athletics Nova Scotia, Athletics PEI, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association. These partners together support the CA-A and its programs. The new logo for the Centre reflects the union of the four provinces into one region, with each province represented by a lane, all merged together to make a track.

Training Groups

The CA-A has three primary training groups. Moncton has two groups, one Speed-Power group and one Endurance group, while Halifax also has an Endurance groups, although some Speed-Power athletes are also associated with the Halifax centre.

The Moncton training centre uses various training locations in the area but the main locations are at the Université de Moncton. These include the indoor track as well as weight room facilities in the CEPS complex on campus, and soon will also include the new outdoor stadium - home of the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships. The Halifax training centre is based at the Dalplex on the campus of Dalhousie University, and other locations in the greater Halifax area.
