| Sunday, July 19 2009 - Atlantic Athletes Continue to Shine in Charlottetown |
The second day of competition saw three more medals for Atlantic athletes at the Canadian Junior Track & Field Championships in Charlottetown, PEI. The day began with a silver medal performance by New Brunswick's Barry Britt in the men's 5000m with a time of 14:58.44. The closed out with a 1-2 punch from two Nova Scotians as Simon Watts jumped a personal best of 2.08m to grab silver in the men's high jump, and Rachael McIntosh took gold in the women's heptathlon on the strength of a spectacular 800m run to close out the two-day 7-event competition.
Along with Caleb Jones' gold in the men's javelin from Day 1, Atlantic athletes have 4 medals with several strong contenders yet to compete on Day 3 of these Championships. |
